13 SUPER SCARY WAYS TO DECORATE YOUR HOUSE FOR HALLOWEEN

If you’re going for a scary look at Halloween, you have to consider the lighting you’re going to use around your house. Most decorations will look spookier at night with the appropriate lighting.

For some reason, candlelight can give off a creepy vibe. You can use real wax candles or flameless candles paired with skulls, bones, bats, etc. Candles that have wax dripping down the sides look even more creepy than a smooth edge. Or consider buy candles that drip “blood” or look like “bones”. Creepy!

I love the idea above which features a scary DIY Halloween candle display tucked into a fireplace. Plain flameless candles are shown on the sides to give off even more light.

This creepy Halloween tablescape uses real wax taper candles, skull and bones decor, cloches, Spanish moss and other small touches. What a scary setting for eating dinner! This look gives off a “haunted mansion dining room” vibe. The soft lighting really adds to the spooky ambiance.

Halloween Haunted Figure Mirror/Window

The idea of seeing a ghost figure in a mirror, window or picture frame is really scary for a lot of people. Consider putting up a haunted mirror in your house for a fun way to creep out guests.

There are lots of different styles to choose from. The image above features a ghost woman looking out from behind the glass panes of an old vintage window. Soft lighting gives her a creepy look. If you’re crafty, this would be a fun thing to try to make. I’ve seen lots of great ideas for these on Pinterest.
