How to get Chocolate out of Clothes (4 Proven Methods)

Step.1 Get Rid of the Excess Chocolate

How to get chocolate out of clothes? Before you get started using a spoon or a butter knife scrape the excess chocolate off. Be very careful not to spread the chocolate to other clean areas of the fabric. Using a sharp tool to do this may weaken or tear the fabric so be very gentle when doing this. If the chocolate is dried you can try to scrape it off but if this seems to be a very difficult stop at that point. Do not try to remove the dried chocolate if it’s not budging.

Step.2 Use Cold Water

Rinse the stain with cold water instead of warm water. Why not hot or warm water? Well, though it may seem the sensible thing to do keep in mind that chocolate is oil-based, and using hot water may set the stain. However, using cold water may be questionable but the goal is not to have a stain that is permanently set. Now, treat the stain starting at the back. This way you are pushing it back to the surface.

Step.3 Detergent

Use mild dish soap or laundry detergent to rub into the stain. Allow the soap to sit on the stain for 10 minutes. Next, soak the clothes in cold water for 20 minutes. While the clothes are being soaked, periodically rub the stained area together with your fingers using your thumb to massage the spot. Doing this will loosen the spot to give the treatment more room to penetrate. Continue doing this until the stain is gone. Lastly, move the clothes over to the washer and wash as usual.
